How I lost weight without trying

It is only in hindsight that I am able to look at the steps I took to lose weight easily.

Step One – I began to meditate for at least 3 minutes a day.

Now that I am retired, I regularly meditate for 20 – 25 minutes a day.  Some days I take 10 minutes twice.  Especially if I am busy or just have trouble relaxing and letting go of my thoughts.  For me it all started with a book by Elizabeth Lesser, The Seeker’s Guide.  But you don’t need to read a book.  You can simply take a few deep breaths, relax, and listen to music to clear your mind.  The only rule to beginning a meditation practice is to set aside time each day.  In time you get better at clearing your mind, and you find ways that work best for you, weather it be sitting in nature, listening to music, or listening to a guided meditation on-line.  Just search and many come up.  I especially like Fragrant Heart, but you may find one that suits you better.

Then several years later, I did a free 21-day Meditation challenge hosted by Deepak Chopra and OprahWinfrey on Health.  They are offering another one next week specifically on weight loss.  Since meditation changed my life, I wanted to share this with you.  It starts on Monday and I am signed up because every little bit still helps!  Here is the link, if you are interested:
